Blue Screen on start up

Quite frequently (nearly every time) when we start our system we get a Blue Screen on one or more monitors. The lanes appear normal during boot up with no error messages. Shutting down and rebooting the range will frequently result in the affected lane coming on line, but another one (or more) showing a Blue Screen. Last night it took 4 attempts to get all 3 airguns lanes working and 2 to get the rim fire going. Once started everything functions normal.

The system is shutdown correctly and the control PC started and running before we start the targets.

Any suggestions welcome.

dear Rutty,
what type of lines did you use?
ESTA5 with HTML5 Browser or older ones with serial connection to a Meyton PC?

Hello NSG-omega,

We are running on ESTA5, hard wired not WiFi, with Shootmaster2 interface.

OK; so you have the blue screens on your PC´s where a HTML Browser is running to display the lines?

What type of operating system your are running on the PC`s?
Which Browser did you use?

Is the linux PC with shootmaster software runniing well?

The Linux PC is running OK. The monitors on the lanes are supplied by Meyton with the Shuttle PC attached to the rear. On startup all targets and monitors go through the normal self test and boot up stage ok but then one of them often (not the same one) displays a blank blue screen; no messages; whilst the others show the target diagram and data panel correctly. All the software is that supplied or recommended by Meyton.

We are not using a third party browser.

Addendum

It is possible that we have the found the cause and it might be related to a database issue. We shall see over the next few days if we have solved the problem.

The cause us still unclear, but it is not a database issue.

Symptoms: On start, after a normal initialisation, one or more screens in either range may display a blank blue screen. Selecting the Menu button on the control pad will cause a target to display, but nothing else, no tabular information.

Corrective action: Removing and restoring power to the affected displays will usually result in them returning to normal. If the all lanes are switched off together and restored together then the fault may transfer to a different lane(s). The most reliable way of clearing the fault seems to be to deal with each lane in turn.

Other observations: The Control PC boots correctly, runs normally with no faults and is allowed to run for at least 2 minutes before any attempt is made to initiate the ranges. Whether the frames are selected on before the firing point PCs are started does not seem to affect the issue.

Once started the system usually functions satisfactorily.

This sounds like a familiar problem to me. Please contact Meyton support (support@meyton.eu) for a software update. Another solution is checking the system date in the BIOS setup. If it is in the future, it can cause problems with older versions of the ControlPC software.

Thanks for that advice. The system is recently installed so the software should be up to date. However we shall check the BIOS date and if that is ok shall contact support.

Thanks again,
Rutty
